Tiger, our black cat, who is 8 or 9 years old... we adopted him way before Ms Emma was born... He's literally Ms Emma's big brother.... **ha ha**

Yours truly... who will turn 41 in a month or so.... **hu hu hu**

Last Thursday, I finally had a chance to run to the courthouse to get my notary.

It's for work... and as a Personal Banker, I'm required to notarize documentations for my customers when needed...

Outside the courthouse.... It was a beautiful day.... love the blue sky.

On the way back to work from the courthouse... and passed a Shell gas station....

(Petrol station in Malaysia... Gas station in USA...)

American: We go to gas station to get gas... not petrol...!!!

Malaysian: Gas is the gas tank for cooking... hook the gas tank to the stove and you can cook an awesome dinner for your family.

American: You don't need a gas tank for your stove in USA... Stove here either run on a centralized gas or you can choose an electric stove. Gas tank here is for our outdoor grill...

Malaysian: Now, you guys are freaggin confusing... %&^$#@%^*(

Chinese New Year was spent in USA (again this year)....

I haven't been back for 2 continuous Chinese New Year.... and of course I miss my family... and all the good food at the reunion dinner... the lion dance... the fireworks.... the time spent with the family... just about EVERYTHING.

1st day of Chinese New Year, I was working.... HUHUHU...

Nobody at work actually knew it was "my holidays".... but what do you expect from the Land of America.... I can hardly even see any decent chinese faces in my area... (chinese from the take-out restaurant doesn't count!)

I did called my parents numerous times... just to chit-chat and wished them Happy Chinese New Year... and may the year of dragon brings them lots of joy, fun, health, wealth and happiness.

So, the car is in the bodyshop, as we speak... to be fixed.

Last Friday morning.... as early as 8:00 am.... I was at the bodyshop.... to meet with the insurance adjustor.

Very nice guy.... kept on apologizing for the cold weather... and had me stand outside with him while he took a look at the damage on the car.

In his hand with a pen and paper on the clipboard, he walked around my car... pointing out the damages as well as some old scratches and dents on the car.

I nodded... without paying any attention into details of all his remarks... since I know they are going to have to replace the whole darn door... and I have to pay $500 deductible... :(

20 minutes later... I walked out of the bodyshop... with a new SUV.

Leather seats with sunroof.... Nice sleek interior with enough cup holders for all of us.... very roomy and comfortable.... I LIKE.

Only if it was MINE... it's a rental car.... the insurance company pay for it while my car is in the bodyshop for repair.

I will have this rental car for a week... loving it.

When I grow up.... I want to get a SUV... just like this one... or Ford Explorer... or Expedition.

Perhaps a trip to the Ford dealership should be in order... very soon!

I wrecked my car yesterday... backed into a tree... what a d@mb @ss!

Luckily I didn't hit the tree hard enough... or else it could have fallen onto my car... knock the hell out of me... and kill me instantly...

But it was hard enough to put a big dent on the back door... and broke the darn back window... :(

The Damage...

Called the insurance company and filed a claim immediately.

Appointment to have the car fixed set for Friday at 8:00 am.

Expect to pay $500 out of MY pocket for deductible (FML)... and the rest is gonna be covered by insurance.

There goes my lunch, shopping, manicure, makeup... for 2 months... FML.

It was a great 2-weeks break from blogging for me... I so needed the time off... since I had been SUPER BUSY at work for the past few weeks...

And today... I had a day off from work as all banks in USA are closed (YAY to federal holidays)... and I had an AWESOME day...

The weather was great - NOT COLD at all... in the 50s... and I was out playing (read: shopping... eat... and eat... and eat) ALL DAY.

Back to blogging....

Annabel's frame on her glasses broke last weekend....

So, we went to Lens Crafter at the mall yesterday... to get her glasses replaced....

See how empty the car park was...

Someday... I will have a big Christmas tree like this one in my front yard.

As we entered the mall...

it was empty... Where are all those people...????

Lens Crafter was pretty empty too... We were the third customer there....

Annabel picked her new glasses... Aaaw... look at cute Emma...

An hour later... $25 co-pay... Viola... Her sparkling new glasses....

Done with the glasses.... and took the girls to their favourite store... Everything 50 - 75% off... The girls went nuts....

3 Reasons WHY....

... I haven't been blogging for more than a week :-

1. SUPER busy with work.

OMG - I didn't know working in a bank would be so busy... that I almost always worked 9++ hours a day for the past few weeks... and by the time I got home... I was EXhausted...

January would be one of the busiest month for this bank... so I'm suspecting that I would have to work at least 10 hours a day (including 1/2 day on Saturday)...

Not complaining... the more hours I put in... the more I will get paid... YAY!

And I seriously need a mini vacation come Febuary or March next year... A short trip (2-3 days) to somewhere would be nice.

2. SUPER lazy.

Lazy bugs kick-in and there's always an excuse not to blog whenever I'm in front of the laptop... I blame it to the cold weather... and the shorter days we get during the winter time just make me SUPER lazy... oh, and also the Christmas & New Year's holidays... and my excuse - Christmas + New Year = TAKING A BREAK FROM BLOGGING.

3. I will think of Reason No. 3 tonight.... Bear with me.

1. Best Donuts in town.

Not Krispy Creme.... Not Dunkin Donuts... but from Williams Bakery.

Cream Filled Donut from Williams Bakery.... A dollar a piece, I think....

Indeed the best Cream Custard Filled Donut in town... the King of All Donuts... I tell you.

Not too sweet... silky smooth... just the right consistency... the cream custard is freshly made every morning from scratch... completely and totally OUT OF HEAVAN.

Sooooo delicious.... I can eat 20 of them in one sitting... no kidding.

Give me some donuts from Williams Bakery!

I leave for work at 7:45 am every morning... and usually, I do not have time to stop anywhere for breakfast.

I'm never a big fan of turtle-neck sweater... but this morning, it was just way to cold to go out shopping... Grrrrrrgggggg....!!!!!

So... I put on the turtle-neck sweater... and off I went to Kohl's... to do my round of shopping....

Spent $127++ at Kohl's and got $20 cash-back coupon for next purchase.

By the time I finished shopping at Kohl's... it was 2:30 pm... and I was darn hungry...

I usually would go for their foot-long hot dog... but today, I wanted something different... for a change.

1. Tooth Fairy.

Emma lost her front tooth 2 days ago... and can't wait for Tooth Fairy to come tonight....

I wish there was a Tooth Fairy in Malaysia when I was growing up...

Back in Malaysia... when I was a kid... my Tooth Fairy was MY MOM.

I remember whenever I lost my tooth... my mom would pick it up... took a quick detour to the backdoor of the house... went outside.... threw the tooth up to the tin roof... went back inside the house... slammed the backdoor as hard as she could... then continue doing what she did before.... (usually cooking or doing dishes... or cursing and chasing us out of the kitchen with her red chinese clog... hehe).

There you have it... my Tooth Fairy.... when I was growing up. I love you Mom.

Annabel's school had a 4th Grade Performance at the cafetaria last night...

Basically, all the students from 4th Grade were there singing holidays and December songs in front of all the parents...

It's called "December Around the World"....

Obviously... the translator is a Cantonese Chinese.... but but... shouldn't it says, "Kong Hei Fatt Choy"...

If he/she a Mandarin Chinese, it would have said, "Gong Xi Fa Chai"....

Anyway... who knows...!!! It doesn't really matter... as long as it's "Happy Chinese New Year"... both are the same to me.

My eldest 9-years old, Annabel received her Honor Roll and Gold Medal for her SOL (Standard Of Learning)... They're only 16 of them in the entire 4th Grade (about 90 of them) in the school who received the Gold Medal and she's one of them... SO PROUD..!!!

The hottest nails in 2010 and 2011... It's very similar to acrylic nails.... but shellac last longer... up to 14-21 days....

without losing shine and shimmer... a little expensive than acrylic but lets do the math...

Shellac - 14 to 21 days = $24 (about $8 a week)
Acrylic - 7 days = $15 (about $$15 a week... duh!)

Thanksgiving 2011

I never knew what Thanksgiving was about when I lived in Malaysia 11 years ago....

My first encouter with Roasted Turkey was in an upscale western restaurant in Kuala Lumpur (couldn't remember the name and don't think it exist anymore....) and I wasn't really enjoying the turkey dinner.

Went there just because a group of my friends wanted to eat turkey....

In my humble opinion... it was an expensive dinner... nothing to write home about... and it TASTE JUST LIKE CHICKEN.

And to my point.... it's ridiculous to pay 5 times the price for something that taste the same as what you would have gotten alot cheaper.

That's in Malaysia... and my perception of Thanksgiving and Turkey Dinner.

In USA... which I called home after being migrated here for over 10 years... I simple look forward to this special holiday season.

Not for the turkey dinner... Not for the green beans casserole... nor the pumpkin pie.... but the BFS... BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING... LoL.

And this year... luck wasn't on my side... I had to go to work the day after Thanksgiving....

It wasn't that bad... I was overly excited actually.... coz it was my last day at the banker's training....

I'm now certified and qualified as a Personal Banker... **ahem ahem**

Anyway, back to Thanksgiving dinner... lots of pictures to share...

Bought a 13++ pounder Turkey from Kroger....

With purchase of $25 and above... I paid $0.39 a pound... so this turkey costed me
$5.37 instead of $20.50.... Cheap cheap.

Some salt, pepper, oil and paprika.... turkey is ready to be roasted in the oven....

When turkey is roasting in the oven.... the girls helped me with setting up the dinner table.

This year... we are in the mood for black and gold....

Since dinner is set at 3 pm.... at 12 noon or so... the girls were hungry.... so crackers, cube cheese, grapes and sandwiches for early lunch....

It was delicious....

4-hours in the oven... Turkey is done... Not the prettiest turkey in the world... but trust me... it was so moist, tender and yummy....

The best turkey gravy I have ever made... not telling you my secret recipe... haha!

We also had stir-fried asparagus and brussel sprouts... Papa doesn't like brussel sprouts... :(

My miserably failed cornbread dressing.... googy and soggy... I think I put too much water in it.... **sob sob**

See that two turkey legs... they were both mine.... nom nom nom nom....

We also had sweet corns and peas...

Overall, it was a good Thanksgiving.... Thanks to Papa and Adele for being here with us this Thanksgiving... Great time... We shall see you again next year.

1. Lunch at School

On Veterans Day (11/11/11), I had the day off (ooooh, first Veterans Day off in my 10 years of working in USA... loving it...)

So... Day off = No work aka No training class... (I was and still am in my new job training for 4weeks - will get into that later) = Lunch with the girls at school.

It has been ages since I had lunch with the girls at school...

In USA, the parents are allow to have lunch with their kids at school... and you can bring just about anything for the kids to eat.... from McDonald's to Chinese take-out... or home-cooked food.

Typically, the lunch hours are between 11:40 am to 12:40 pm.... depends on what grade your kids are in....

Emma's lunch hour (1st grade) = 11:40 am 12:10 pm

Annabel's lunch hour (4th grade) = 12:10 pm to 12:40

This is the school cafeteria... In Malaysia, we called Canteen... **hehe**

Oh, the kids have some rules to obey during lunch hour.... For example, when kids are making too much noises.... Mrs. Speth, the Cafeteria Lady will turn off the lights to get everybody quite...

And if you have any questions in the Cafeteria... she is the to-go-person...

She doesn't look like a 5th grader.... She looks more like 18... Oh... how I wish!

2. McRib - Nom nom nom

As far as eating out at a fast-food joint.... I would prefer to go for Popeye's or Chick-fil-A....

I would only go to McDonald's for their Dollar Menu - 4-piece Chicken Nuggets and a large sweet tea.... and that's lunch... Yes, I'm super cheapo.

Thank you so much for all the well wishes extended to me from my faithful readers on my new job... I was overwhelmed with the comments as well as emails... I'm so glad, now that I have found a happier place to work... and sure is, proud of myself... and do my very best in my new position.

Since I will be a Personal Banker at XXXXX XXXXX Bank (sorry, can't reveal the bank's name but it's one of the most well-established and recognized financial institution in USA... no, it's not Bank of America)... I'm required to adhere to their dress code.

Dress/Suit Pants + Jacket + Hose (a must)

I hate pantyhose... never liked it and never will... but what to do...

Anyway, I have been out shopping for jackets in the past two weeks... and found 3 that I like.

Like the style - goes well with pants... but hate the shoulder pads... took them off.

Love the color... I believe I paid $19.98 for it.

Once again... my beloved sister in Hong Kong called and asked for a favor....

La Mer is having sale.... and this set of Creme de la Mer aka Miracle Broth (one large and one small jar) set herself a $250 US Dollar....

She wanted 3 sets.... so that's $750 + tax....

That should last her for a year... but I ain't gonna pay $750 for some face cream... Too expensive!

What in the world is Little Red Dot Kitchen...???

It's an online store selling Pork Jerky aka Bak Kwa based in Bay Area, California....

I stumbled upon someone's blog the other day and found the website...

They're home-made and delicious.... almost like the famous Wo Lai Ye Bak Kwa in Malaysia.

They are a little expensive, in my humble opinion...

2 packs (1/4 lbs each) = $12.45 + shipping = $17.40

Above picture is single pack - about 3 medium slices... so, that's like $2.00++ for 1 slice. **gulp gulp**

The title says it all....

I GOT THE JOB....

The final interview with the District Manager, Ms S. went very well.

The moment I stepped out of the meeting room... I knew I nailed it.

I was very confident... answered all the questions like a pro... and I can most certainly tell Ms S. liked me alot from the very first second she saw me...

We had great and friendly type of conversations... as if I have known her for 10 years!

Anyway, long story short.... as norm... right after the interview, Ms S. thanked me for the time and the great opportunity given to her to meet with me.... I also politely said my thank-you and drove home.

I NAILED IT.... I NAILED IT.... I NAILED IT.... that was what basically in my head... all the way driving home.

I was so happy and couldn't wait to share the good news with my loved one....

Indeed... The grass is always greener on the other side....

Indeed... There's always a light at the end of the tunnel....

Indeed... There's always a rainbow after the rain...

Indeed... There's always some madness in love....

And indeed... There's always a Smarty Pants like me in this world.... LoL!

My new journey has indeed begun.

I did get a phone call.... for the final interview with the District Manager, Ms S.

Not in two weeks.... but within 2 hours after my first group interview with Ms T... (click here to read my 1st group interview)

Ms T. extended her congratulations to me for being selected to attend the final interview with the DM.... and asked if I would be available the next day.

Guess what was my answer?

OH HELL YES... YES YES YES.... repeat 3X.

I immediately excepted the invitation and thanked her for the call.

Once again... I was extremely happy that night... and I danced like Shakira in the her Waka Waka song (AGAIN)... but this time in the bathroom... taking a shower.... hehe.

Right after the hot shower... I jumped in bed... and that night... I slept like a baby... sucking her thumb. LoL....!!!!

A. Couch & Chair

The 10-years old couch in the den finally bid farewell... it broke and beyond repair...

So, I went out a few weeks ago and bought a new couch... with matching comfy chair.

Set me off almost $750...

Two-seaters couch was on sale for $398...

This chair is the BOMB... I can probably take a 2-hours nap on it.

And I sit on the right side ALL THE TIME....

Comfy chair....

I give it 5 years.... and probably will need a new set of couch and chair.

B. Lollipop

Michael's was having sale this two weekend ago.... It's a famous arts and crafts store that sells basically everything your grandma would need to do her crafting.... you named it, and they have it.

I hate that store.... but the girls love it.... They thinks they're future Martha Stewart... and swear the store would make their dreams come true.

Every single trip we made to that darn store.... I would spent at least $20 for the junks that the girls wanted....

$20.93 gone on this trip... in less than 30 minutes...

The good thing was... we got ourselves some lollipop... Nom nom nom nom.

She doesn't like her yellow star lollipop... it taste like bananas....

This young lady got herself a purple butterflies....

I got myself a lime candy cane - taste super-delicious.

Of course the girls hijacked my lollipop... and I ended up having the yucky butterflies... **rolling eyes**

Halloween was just over.... And the girls had a great trick-or-treating night...

D. Kawaii Squishy Bun

The girls are crazy for Squishy Buns lately.

What are those squishy buns?

It's basically made out of foam... in a shape of donuts or buns or cupcakes.... they can be squished without deforming the shape of buns... kinda like a stress ball to me.

E. Hair Cut

I cut my hair.... Yes, I did it... FINALLY.

My hair has gotten so long and unmanageable... I was getting sick of it.... having to spend 30 minutes just to dry my freaggin hair every morning.

So, I had it cut... 4 inches off.

Right before my hair cut....

No after picture... Just imagine 4 inches off....

Much better now... lighter and easier to style.... most important, I have my 15 minutes back every morning... LoL.

The interview went extremely well... As expected, it started at 9:00 am sharp and took exactly 2 hours.

Everyone was on time... They were 13 of us... (yes, I counted coz later during the interview, we had a group project and we were divided into 3 groups).... and ALL were dressed SMARTLY!

We were being seated in a large conference room as per above.

We started by taking turn introducing ourselves.

To make this a fun post.... let me tell you more about each individual candidates....

Take note that information gathered and nickname given were based on their initial introductions as well as my observation of all the candidates during the 2-hours interview.

I will start with Ms T - The Interviewer.

Ms T has been with the company for quite number of years (13 maybe, I forgot)... Very nice lady... down to earth... very welcoming and that make all of us less paranoid.

1. Ms I-have-a-toothache
She talked funny... as if there was an apple stucked in her mouth... Later, she told us she had one of her tooth pulled just the day before.
Now my question is, why in the world you had your tooth pulled just a day before your interview, Ms I-Can't-Talk? I would take aspirin to get me by.... and re-schedule the dentist appointment to a later date.

2. Mr Africa
OH MY GOD... What can I say about you, Mr Africa? Well, one of the question was... "What was your biggest accomplishment?"
He answered that he managed to start his own business successfully by selling ice-cream... on an ice-cream truck that he designed... and kids love him... He also brought along some pictures of his VERY COLORFUL ice-cream truck to show us as a proof... and he was proudly passing the pictures around for us to see... Mr Africa... Oh Mr Africa...!!!!

3. Ms I-Look-After-Grandma
She took 1 1/2 years off to take care of her sick grandma (oh how sweet)... and now grandma has gotten better and she's ready to get back to work... Bless her heart!

4. Ms Series 7 & Series 66
Ms Series Series was very proud of herself... Apparently, she is certified and felt like she's qualified for the position... Oh, she mentioned Series 7 & Series 66 a couple of times during the interview... I was soooooooo jealous of her... When I grow up... I want to be just like her!

5. Ms Ex-IBM
She used to work for IBM in Seattle... Just moved back to Richmond after being laid-off by IBM... Very friendly and super professional... She would be one of the finalist... I bet you $1,000!

6. Ms I-am-Nervous
She was so nervous... even before entering the conference room... she asked for a cup of coffee to calm her down. She sat beside me... and I can certainly tell that she almost pee'd in her pants!

7. Me
Ms-Smarty-Pants aka Ms-Goofy-Girl aka Ms __________________ (fill in the blanks)

8. Ms Hispanic
She used to work for... either AT&T or Verizon... not much to say about her but remember she's a nice lady... young and energetic.

9. Ms Applebee's
She works at Applebee's as a waitress... very pleasant lady... the prettiest in the room... long hair with sweet smile... Wish I had taken her picture to show you all.

10. Mr Oldest In The Room
He's indeed the oldest in the room... all grey hair... at least in her sixties... had 20 years of experience in real estate... talk reeeeeeeeeally sloooooooooooow... like a robot!

11. Mr Waiter
Another candidate that work in the restaurant... He wanted to try something new... so thought would give it a try... A little nervous when answering questions... I'm guessing he's very young and lack of confidence.

12. Ms Shy
Big girl but super shy... not quite sure if the position is a good fit for her... as one of the requirement is to meet with people and enjoy working with them... Can't be shy if you are meeting with people everyday, right?

13. Ms Ex-New Yorker
New York... New York.... and New York.... is all I heard from her.... "People in New York are nasty"... "The New Yorker spent their $$$$ like crazy"... "I used to work 14 hours a day... that's New York"... Everything is New York... and she claimed she's tired of the Big Apple's life... **rolling eyes**

Long story short.... 2-hours went by and we ended the interview... with everyone giving a big sigh relief.

We were told to go home and wait for email or phone call... latest in a week or so... if any of us was being shortlisted for the final interview with the District Manager.

I tell you... I was so nervous... I almost pee'd in my pants on my way driving home... LOL..!!!

I started blogging in 2006.... and it has been 6 years now... that I share the story of my life with the world out there.

In the first 2 years... I made quite a bit of $$$ from PayPerPost... an online blog marketing that hire bloggers to write about their client's company, services or products.

I enjoyed doing that alot... and almost everyday, I was given opportunities by the advertisers to write about their products and services... and I got paid for it.... most of the time $5 to $10 per post... and the highest I got paid was $35 per post.

Now, it might seem very little but it adds up.... In 3 months, I had at one point earned close to US$2,000... that was good money and great part-time job.

Fast forward... and in these past few years.... I have stopped blogging for PayPerPost.

Why...???

My assumption:-

The "Pay to Blog" world kinda became stale... Advertisers didn't see quite a return from blogger's online advertising.... they quickly cut the pay from $5-$10 per post to $1-$2.... That's the opportunities I got everytime I logged onto the website

To be honest.... I'm not going to spend a couple of hours everyday... just to get $1 or $2 pay.... No way Jose....

Lately.... most of the posts in my blog are all about me.... and my two beautiful daughters.

Over the years... my blog has generated numerous number of visitors... from all over the world.

Most of them are regular and faithful readers of mine... some I have met in person... alot of them communicate with me through email and facebook.

So, I had my laptop on my lap *hehe* surfing on the web.... and at the same time, CNN on TV in front of me... Fuyoo, talking about multi-tasking!

Anyway, CNN was featuring Tokidoki Tattooed Barbie Doll that has caused controversy among some parents. Apparently, some parents in USA think that it's not age-appropriate for kids to have an Americon Icon doll that has tattoos all over her beautiful body - from her left arm.... to her chest and neck. **rolling eyes**

I beg to defer.

First and foremost... the doll is a collector's item and meant for adults. There are only 7400 being produced so far and NOT SOLD in your normal "moms and pops" toy stores.

Second... This Barbie collection is expensive. It's being sold at $50.00 a pop at retail.... compared to your child's $15 Barbie sold in Tar-Jay... and kids should not be allowed to play with a $50 toys, which again, it's a collector's item.... Period. End of story.

Third... If the parents think it's not age-appropriate (I respect your opinion).... then DON'T BUY.... Why make such a big issue about it...??? And that it has to be featured in the national news....!!!

I like collector's item.... and I personally think that.... 10 to 20 years down the road.... an item that cost $50 now.... would worth at least $2,000.

And this is Mattel... Barbie Doll... with tattoos... pink hair... leopard leggings *drool*... silver stilettos and bracelets.... and only 7,400 produced.... HELL YEAH... this Barbie is going to worth $10,000 in 20 years!

I have just made an investment... an $80 Tokidoki Barbie Doll from ebay (yeah, cheapest I can find on ebay).... which I hope in 20 years.... it will worth $10,000.

It's no harm to dream big... that's what my father always told me.... Now I just have to convince myself to color my hair PINK.

(EndPlay Staff Reports) - Mattel is stirring up controversy once again with the release of their new tokidoki Barbie.

The new Barbie, designed by Italian designer Simone Legno who is behind the tokidoki fashion line, sports a pink bob, leopard leggings covered by a pink miniskirt, a black heart and bones t-shirt, silver stilettos and bangle bracelets.

But it's not the fashion statement that Barbie is making with her edgy style, it's the sleeve of tokidoki tattoos on her left arm, as well as her chest and neck, that is causing an outcry, the Daily Mail reported.

The doll is marketed as a collector's item, and on the Barbie Collector website said it's for the "adult collector." however, readers of the Ms. Twixt blog are voicing their displeasure with the fashion forward Barbie.

An anonymous reader of the blog wrote, "Encouraging children that tattoos are cool is wrong, wrong, wrong. Mattel why not put a cigarette and a beer bottle in her hand while you're at it!"

While a commenter name Chaobaby7 wrote, "I think little kids should be allowed to be kids, tattoos, fashion and sex is for adults to choose or not to choose, its fine as a collectors doll but not for children."

Another poster named Ashley disagreed with the criticism, writing, "Wow. You all are so harsh. It is becoming more socially acceptable to have tattoos nowadays. If you don't think so, then that's your own closed-minded fault."

Tokidoki Barbie is selling for $50 and there only have been 7,400 produced.

In addition to the Barbie, tokidoki is also producing limited edition tokidoki Barbie apparel ranging from t-shirts to handbags, on their website .

Popgadget.com , a tech website for women, said that the doll is a "must-have" and should be on your holiday wish list.

Whether the tokidoki Barbie is offensive or not, it's not the first time Mattel has produced a controversial Barbie.

My New Journey: Looking for a job

Being unemployed... I have plenty of time in my hand.

The first thing I have been doing for the past week.... was to go online every morning without failed... LOOKING FOR JOBS.

Any job... as long as there are job openings posted online.... my resume will be at the Recruiter's in-box within seconds...

My daily routine would be a few hours spent in front of the computer.... browsing for jobs... hitting refresh from time to time... hoping employers would posted new jobs on the website... and I would be the first who submitted my resume.

After hundreds of applications, I have to say it's very discouraging and disappointed... that every time I checked my email... only to find there's no invitation for job interview.

I was so desparated looking for a job... where it had came to a time that I almost wanted to work for McDonald's flipping burger.... earning minimum wage.

Afterall, it ain't a bad job.... it's going to pay my bills... and perhaps, my kids will be guaranteed with a few leftover burgers and fries for dinner instead of Dog Chow!

What have I done to myself...??? It's absolutely crazy to quit your job since unemployment rate is at its high 9.1 percent.

I started to think that I was a loser... that I'm not gonna find a job... I'm going to just sit at home and rot to death....

But there was a little voice crying out in the wilderness.... asking me not to ever give up hope.... The little voice that speaking to me.... telling me...

"Hey Catherine, there is always a little light at the end of the tunnel. Good days are ahead you. The sun will shine in your heart again and you will feel joy. Don't give up!"

That little voice was telling me not to ever give up.... and sure enough... I soon saw a light at the end of the darkness....

"Why don't you try to re-finance your house..?" a friend suggested.

"You can refinance and get a 30-years mortgage loan at lower interest rate.... and your house payment would be half of what you are paying now..." he added.

"Interest rate is at its lowest... I think you should really do it..." he insisted before ending the 3-minutes conversation.

He's really pushing the idea of re-financing our house and thought it would be a great idea since I'm unemployed now.

So, Monday afternoon.... on the same day as my last day with FedEx.... I had all my current mortgage loan information in my hand.... and drove to the nearest credit union.... to seek for help.

I presented all my loan information to the Personal Banker (hehe... smiling coz yet another story to tell about PB - save that for later)....

"I need help...." I told the PB.

"What can I do for you...?" PB asked, after he took a sip of his Starbucks coffee and gently put the cup down next to the computer.

"I want to re-finance my house..." I said.

(I'm in deep sh*t trouble.... I just quit my job..... and I'm unemployed now....) **Of course I didn't tell him that**

Without any delay, Mr "I-drink-Starbucks-Coffee" took all the information... keying in every single details in his Dell desktop computer.... full of concentration and attention given.... no smile nor eye-contact from him at all.... while hitting real hard on every stroke on the keyboard as if it was his last day at work as well!

For some reason, this man is full of anger this afternoon.... maybe he start off the day on the wrong foot.

I was sitting there thinking.... now Mr Man.... don't even get me started. You should be blessed with a job right now.... This woman in front of you is jobless and need your help to refinance her house. Be grateful of what you have.... put away your attitude, cut it off and give her a big hug now... please, I say N.O.W.

"Ma'am... here is what I have for you..." after he hit "Enter" on the keyboard.

30-years loan at such and such fixed interest rate = XXX amount per month.

15-years loan at such and such fixed interest rate = XXXX amount per month.

I didn't understand a single bit of all the banking termology listed on his dusty computer screen... and he was nice enough to walk me through... what each category represent... how much are the closing cost... the cash out options.... and so for.

After half-an-hour of talking and more sipping of his hour-old coffee.... we finally decided to go with the 15-years loan and pay the same monthly payment as we did with our current loan, with no cash out.

We have cut 7 years short of our current loan.... due to the low interest rate from the re-financing... instead of 22 more years to go with our existing loan.... we are going for 15-years now...

I said my thank-you to the Personal Banker... and he promised to get my application expedited and executed as soon as possible.

Just like that... I walked out of the Credit Union... with high hope that... I would never have to feed my kids with Purina Dog Chow.

House Re-financing = DONE

So, the local HR Generalist came early Monday morning... to prepare for my final resignation process before the exit.... in other words... GET THE %^&# OUT OF HERE!

It was a closed door discussion.... as expected and no surprise here... just me and the HR Generalist... with several unnecessary questions being asked... then follow by documentation to be signed, stamped, endorsed and dated. Oh whatever!

I have to admit that it was a little hard for me to take... You know, after being 4 years with the company.... there were good times and bad times.... the relationship I had built over the years with all the team members at the center.... I got a little emotional and hardly could hold back my tears during my final moment with the company.

I was given as long as I wanted.... to gather all my personal belongings in my office...

Holy Buddha Jesus Christ... I didn't realized all the craps that I have accumulated in my office over these years until I had to clean it up.... There were piles and piles of papers to be thrown away... a drawer full of my junk to be sorted out - stuff to be taken home and stuff belongs to T.R.A.S.H....

After an hour... I gathered all my stuffs... all packed in a big box.... said my good-byes to all the team members.... and walked out of the store.

Just like that... my last day at FedEx.... I proudly walked out of FedEx....
with no intention.... to ever look back nor work for this organization again.

"How did you take it...???" a friend of mine asked.

"I take it as a learning process... Close this chapter of my life... and start a new one... " I answered.

"A new chapter in my life.... A new beginning... the same old me. After all, I'm not someone else.... It's just different shades of reflection that you see..." I continued.

I have to say I'm forever thankful to FedEx.... for the wonderful opportunity this organization had brought me.... the 3-days trip the company sent me to Orlando on 7-7-2008 for my training...

I will forever remember this special moment.... from the day I boarded the plane in Richmond that Monday morning.... till the last day of the trip coming back from Orlando Wednesday night... What a great trip!

THANK YOU... THANK YOU... and THANK YOU... for such a wonderful trip.

It has indeed forever changed my life!

I QUIT my job.... last week.

Although I submitted my resignation by giving 2-weeks notice, the company wanted me to leave immediately.... which is, by all means, completely understandable and fine with me.

I have worked for FedEx for 4 years... No doubt, it's a great organization to work for but lately, due to the re-structure of the organization and change of my job description with an unattainable expectation.... I decided to quit and look for a job somewhere else!

Now... with the current bad economy and unemployment rate sky rocketing at 9.1%, one would think it's stupid and crazy to quit your job without another one lining up for you....

Trust me.... quitting my job at FedEx was one of the most difficult decision that I have ever made in my life.... VERY DIFFICULT. It took me MONTHS... literally MONTHS... to finally find the courage.... to put a death sentence to myself.... and join the group of unemployed people out there.

It was that bad.... it affected me.... mentally and physically... and it was so bad it had came to a point that I didn't sleep and eat... for 3 continuous days.... It was a complete torture for me.

Anyhow... I'm glad it's all over and done with it... But being unemployed and part of that 9.1 percent.... it is very SCARY.

What will hold in my future...???

How am I going to look for a job since there are millions out there looking for one...???

This is America... competition is high... top-qualified and educated people are a plenty out there... and being a minority (me being Asian)... it's completely insane to even stay motivated and not being discouraged.

What am I going to do now...???

How are we going to pay all the bills....???

Two kids at home got to be fed.... with WHAT..??? Dog food...???

List to do:-

Got to run to the bank to refinance the house.... cable has to go.... call the insurance and change the policy.... shit, winter is here and oil furnace need to be filled for the cold season.... cell phone is next to go.... AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON....

But I'm not discourage.... I'm not going to give up... I have faith in myself.... I have to stay focus and be positive.... that I'm going to find a new job for myself.... soon... VERY SOON.

koosh balls...

That's the nickname for Rambutan... or you may called it hairy balls... however you like... but I think koosh balls sounds funnier... LoL.

Anyway, a few weekend ago... while I was out at Kroger's doing my weekly grocery shopping... I almost passed out when I saw these koosh balls....

Generally... in Malaysia... when rambutan is at this stage... it's most certain qualified to be IN THE TRASH....

Take a closer look at it... they almost turn black... like charcoal... and so dry... even I, who haven't had fresh rambutans for years, won't take a second look at these "3-weeks-old-and-dry-like-the-sahara" rambutans.

And at $7.99 a pound...??? NO, THANK YOU!

Lion King 3D

The girls and I are going out this evening... to watch Lion King 3D at the movie theater....

Now... I've seen the movie when it first came out 15 or 16 years ago (correct me if I was wrong)... and to be honest, you would think I'm kinda excited.... just like a 3-years old... waiting for the ice-cream truck in our neighborhood.... I'M ACTUALLY NOT.

A few reasons behind it.

1. I have seen the movie... in the movie theater.... and on a dvd.... too many times that I couldn't even remember. I can even sing-along with the theme song.... So, nothing new and exciting for me.... EXCEPT it's in 3-D.

2. 3-D version = extra $$$ for the ticket and the darn 3-D glasses.... not a whole lot but check this out.

Child ticket = $7.00 (matinee) + $3.50 (for 3D) = $10.50
Adult ticket = $9.75 (matinee) + $3.50 (for 3D) = $13.25

So, for all 3 of us... that's a total of $34.35....

Plus popcorn and soda.... Hey CatCat... Prepare to spend at least $50 at the movie theater today. **bitchy mode on**

3. Movie is 89 minutes long.... OMG... to think of sitting there watching Cute Simba and Scary Scar for an hour and twenty-nine minutes... Someone please, hand me a gun! Although, I have to admit I like the name Mufasa... If I had a son, he would have all my honor to be named Mufasa... :D

But I have to stick it out and go with the girls... forget about the $$$.... and the up-coming 89-minutes of misery awaits me.... ALL FOR THE LOVE OF MY BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN. **bitchy mode off... love mode on**

So, if you received SMS texting from me this evening.... you know where I am - in complete misery.

Please say a little prayer for me... lol... and for my purse too... double lol...!!!

First Day of School 2011/2012

The girls went back to school right after the Labor Day weekend... Tuesday, September 6th, 2011.... after the long 3-months of summer holiday.

You see, the school term in USA is very different from Malaysia, the country where I grew up.

New school year in USA starts in early September and ends in June the following year... with severl one-week or two-weeks holiday school closings in between those months... hence the 2011/2012 as per in my title.

So, bascially the kids here have 3-months summer holidays versus 6-weeks off (from middle of November to end of December) in Malaysia... Again, that was during my dinosaur time - 30 some years ago.... Not quite sure what's now.... I'm sure it has not changed!

But anyway.... the kids were both eagerly excited about going back to school....

And yours truly were painfully exhausted with all the shopping for school supplies, new clothes, shoes and book bags. **$$$ gone**

This young lady insisted to get this "oh-so-cute-and-I'm-expensive" dress for her first day back to school.

Why..???

Because of the matching "oh-so-cute-and-I'm-expensive" dress for her doggie.

I tell you... the brilliant idea of marketing nowaday... but as long as my little one is happy... that's all it matters.

And you watch... someday... this brilliant blog owner (me lah ahem ahem).... will come up with some weird idea/invention... make it big and worth millions of dollars.... Grab a bag of pop-corn.... sit down... and WATCH...!! Ha ha...

But for right now... I'm off to bed as soon as I finished with this posting.... super tired and getty ready to lose my mind soon if I didn't turn off the darn laptop....

... at my grandpa's birthday party... when I was 4 or 5 years old... hehe.

You can see in the picture that there were many young kids gathering around the birthday boy (hehe).... waiting for some sweet treats aka birthday cake....

They are all my cousins.... only 1/10 of us....

I missed my grandpa's house in Air Kuning, Kampar so much.... My dad and his siblings all grew up in this house....

The house had given us alot of sweet childhood memories.... I would pay anything to be in that house one more time.... :(

For whatever reason, we (the kids) were forbidden to go up there to the upper level... I mean... we were warned many many times... not to even think about getting close of being up there.... The door to the upper level always remained locked and unaccessable....

Why are we not allowed to play upstair..???

Why is it always locked..??

Are there any treasure box that store some of grandma's fine jewelries...???

Perhaps there are a couple of coffins laying around up there...??? Huhuhu...!!!

These are the few questions that always played in my mind when I was growing up and visiting my grandpa in this house.

The house is no longer there now... it was burnt down 10-15 years ago.... when it was rented out to someone....

My dad drove us back there... right after the fire accident... just to take a look at the old house... it was very sadden... everything was completely burnt down... *____*

So... these two pictures forever hold a special place in my heart... They are indeed PRICELESS!

Not really.... but enough to drive me CRAZY.

So glad all is over now.... We got our power back last night... PHEW..!!!!

I had never in my life, live without power for 7 looooooooong days.... That was from last Saturday (08/27) to Friday (09/02).

I'm forever grateful to these guys who worked so hard last night to restore our power....

Kudos to them....

Now I can take my long hot shower again and have my Foxy-Roxy hair back.... after been living through hell for 7 days....

Earthquake.... Hurricane... all happened in a week.

Lost power last Saturday... still has not resumed yet as of 5:00 pm today.

The power company announced today that power will be restored to 90-95 of residents in VA this Friday.

OMG... are you freaggin kidding me...????

Granted that we have a generator to have the fridge, freeze, lights and tv running.... but I was struggling this morning to get myself ready for work.

1. No hot water = No shower.... Thanks to the creator of Chanel No. 5... Guess I have to take a cold shower tomorrow morning. Haih!

2. No lights in the bathroom = Had to put my face together in the dark... Glad that I didn't look like a clown today. Phew!

3. For those who don't know... I wash my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY.... in the morning when I take the shower... You can imagine how miserable I was this morning. Grrggh!

4. Limp unwashed hair = Bad mood... Not a good start for Monday morning.... and many more mornings to come.... Okay, I take that back. Gotta settle with washing hair with cold shower... starting tomorrow morning. Pray for me!

There you go... and that explained why I haven't blogged for almost a week now.

The good thing is.... All my Muslim friends are celebrating Hari Raya tomorrow and I'm happy for them....

Opis saya ni tempat orang kerja... bukan kedai mamak.... Lagipun, Minah tu dah segan nak masuk opis saya ajak bersembang.... Malu kot after last insiden? Entah!

Saya memang tak suka masuk campur hal peribadi orang.... tapi kesian jugak tengok Minah Salleh petang tadi.... Kena goreeeeeeeeeeng kat bos dia.... for 2 hours. Haih!

It seems like yesterday.... that we brought her home from the hospital.

She was born in Johnston Willis Hospital on August 18, 2005.

How To Do Donut Hair Bun!

As I mentioned in here before.... Annabel watches youtube all the time.

She likes to watch how things are made.... how to do this.... and that.

I'm very impressed and proud of her.... for being so resourceful and interested to learn new things.

And she learned it quick too.... the minute she finished watching the tutorial.... she was able to pick up the skill.... and did or made exactly the same thing.

Just like the Donut Hair Bun.... she mastered tonight.

What you need is a used sock.... cut the toe end off.

Then flip the opening of one end over.... and roll it down till the other end of the sock....

Flip the other opening end of the sock over....

to make a donut just like this.

Then wrap around your ponytail with the stinky donut sock... LoL.

Flip your hair over.... to cover the donut sock.

Next... you need a bow to tie the bun around....

and you will get a semi-finished donut hair bun....

Carefully twist the excess hair... then wrap it around the base of the hair bun...

Then secure with another bow....

And VOILA... you have a Donut Hair Bun.... made from a used stinky sock!

Ooooooh, dia datang lagi.... masuk opis saya sesuka hati dia saja.

Time saya sibuk sangat dengan urusan penting saya.... dia pulak nak menyibuk... saya tak suka!

Yang buat saya hot (again) pagi tadi... dia TEGUR Cath bulat-bulat wei...

"Cath, kau kena STOP... Tak baik untuk kau...!!!"

Saya pandang kat dia... kenyit-kenyit mata sebelah kanan... senyum-senyum masam.... lepas tu pandang balik komputer... jejari kat keyboard.... SAMBUNG KERJA!

Dia senyum malu-malu kucing, TERUS BELAH.... (padan muka.... dah tahu saya tak layan, dia pun ciao... LOL)

Kenapa ya...??? Kenapa Minah Salleh ni suka sangat jaga tepi kain saya...??? Busybody, orang English cakap.... Haih!

Kesian betul Cath tengok si dia ni... Dah leh tak ramai kawan... (mana Cath tau...??? Ooooh, dia yang pandai-pandai cerita kat saya pada suatu ketika dulu)... Duduk pun sorang-sorang kat rumah... Hari Sabtu dan Ahad, kerja dia asyik ke gereja aje.

Saya no hal, kalau awak manusia jenis yang kuat beragama.... malah saya amat berbangga bila ada kawan-kawan sekitar saya berpegang kuat pada ajaran agama... saya memang respect sama awak....

Tapi kalau saya dah tak berminat dan tak ada masa nak ke gereja.... jangan pulak awak nak paksa-paksa saya.... pujuk ini pujuk itu.... bila aje ada masa lebih, awak selalu mengambil kesempatan dan suka-suki masuk opis saya nak bagi ceramah... Saya tak berminat lah, Cik Akak ooooiiii....!!!!!

Esok lusa, bila Cath senang sikit.... Cath belanja awak makan tengahari.... Haaaa, masa tu... kalau awak nak bagi free lesson... nak buat seminar ke.... training ke.... I'm ALL FOR IT~

Buat masa ini.... awak jangan lah kacau saya ya.... Pergi main jauh-jauh.... Ataupun, pergi lah borak-borak dengan customer kat luar tu....

Selamat Berpuasa to all my Muslim friends in Malaysia, Singapore and all over the world.

It's Ramadhan month... the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which lasts 29 or 30 days.

During this month, Muslims will abstain from food and drink, through fasting.... from dawn to sunset....

At sunset.... the family will gather the fast-breaking meal known as Iftar.... Meal is served, follow by prayers.... And the next morning, from dawn... they will begin to fast again... Repeat and repeat for 29 or 30 days.

It's intended to teach Muslims about patience, spirituality, humility and submissiveness to God.

I miss Ramadhan month in Malaysia.... more so to the food that sold in the Ramadhan bazaar.... kuih-muih... lauk-pauk.... ikan bakar.... ayam golek.... and so for.

Here's what I had for my so-called "Buka Puasa" meal... Hehe!

Sambal Ikan Bilis with Petai over Basmati Rice... Nyam Nyam Nyam...!!!!

Sirap Bandung... Naaaw, I wish.... It's just some American Sweet Tea. LOL!

I haven't had a chance to post a decent picture of myself in the blog for quite some time.

A regular reader of my blog has been emailing me and bugged the *toot toot* of me to post some nice and recent picture of me in here.

She said she wanted to see how long my hair is.... did I get it cut lately..??? what is the color of my hair now...???

The light blue top is for Honey Glamour (light brown color - I like)... Wear them almost EVERYDAY!

And the dark blue is for my blue color contact lenses.... (seldom put them on now... prefer the light brown color as it matches my hair color....)

Alright, I know all the captions are unrelevant to the pictures... Oh well.... couldn't come up with anything nice to say.... so, there you go.... we will just talk about contact lenses.....

The closest Amusement Park to Richmond.... is Kings Dominion.... about 25-30 minutes drives up north of Richmond.

In Kings Dominion.... there are plenty of fun for everyone... rides for kids and family... live shows.... water parks.... dining available for hungry wolves... and shopping for crazy hot mama... like ME..!!!! LOL!

But I didn't go to Kings Dominion that day... I was at work.... :(

It was hot and sunny day... everyone had a bottle of water in their hands....

And the kids had some driving lesson with Mr. Snoopy....

Panas sungguh hari ini....

Biasanya, saya kurang mengeluh kalau cuaca di luar panas... Bagi saya, lagi panas lagi best.... Boleh saya bersantai kat tepi kolam renang.... kasi suntan jap... sambil rehat-rehat kan otak..... tenangkan fikiran.

Tapi hari ini, panasnya lain sikit... Mencucuk-cucuk kulit... Macam ada jejarum cucuk sini cucuk sana..... merasa seluruh badan.... Terus hilang mood mau suntan... Haih!

Semenjak dua menjak ni.... saya selalu hilang mood....

Hilang mood mau kerja.... hilang mood nak pergi shopping.... hilang mood mau bawa anak-anak keluar jejalan.... Asyik nak duduk rumah aje.... Omong Omong Kosong!

Sebeeeeeeenar-nya...... saya dah fed-up dengan kerja saya.... Rasa-rasa nak berhenti terus.... Carik kerja lain.... Kerja yang saya suka... Kerja yang tak banyak kerenah dan stress... Ada sesiapa nak hire saya, sila hubungi saya dengan segera.... Saya orang yang sangat cincai... tak banyak songei... Asalkan kau tak kacau saya time kerja, I'll be alright!

On 4th of July, we went to D.C.... to spend the day (like tourists) at the capital city....

... and watched fireworks at the Mall.

It was worth money spent on gas and hotel rooms....

See that 3 "pointee-thingy" beside the light pole...?? Some kinda of weird structure by the inter-state near Pentagon... Never care to find out what it was... :)

Two hours drive... and we were in D.C at 12:30 pm sharp... too early to check-in... :(

At the hotel lobby.... I was so tempted to strike a pose... just like her. LOL!

They got the hats and flags from the hotel reception.... FREE!

Then we found out that the hats were cheaply Made in China.... hence, no one was wearing it when we got to the National Gallery of Art.

Very Patriotic....

Kim, my sister-in-law came for a visit the weekend before 4th of July.... with her two kids, Kieran and Ainsley.

They live in Canada and decided to spend the 4th with us this year... in D.C.... (pictures to come later).

Expect to see alot of pictures in my next few post.... places we went to.... things we did together.... ALL FUN STUFF!

If you like to see some of the places we went to in D.C.... and a fun day at Virginia Beach (closest beach to us - about 2 hours drive from RIC).... then you will enjoy looking at all the pictures... I will try to make it as interesting as possible... I promise!

Anyway, on the next day they arrived, July 2nd Saturday.... we hanged out at the pool all day.

Something too cute.... and wanted to share with my readers here.

Every morning, the girls make their beds.... It's a chore that they have to do after they wake up in the morning....

Note 1: I wish I had a bed to make when I was growing up.... Why...??? Coz I was growing up sleeping on a hardwood floor... No bed... :(

Anyway, the other day.... I found the girls beds being made nicely and tidy... and something put a smile on my face....

I quickly grab my camera and snapped a few pictures... to share with my readers.

This is Annabel's bed....

She made her bed that morning and tugged her 3 teddy bears under the blanket.... before she went to the bus stop.

Sammy grew up with Annabel and slept with her every night since she was a baby.... hence, he's all grey, yucky and dirty.... I seriously think that she will take Sammy with her when she goes to college. :D

She had Freddie and Carly later... when she was a toddler.

This is Emma's bed....

And Doggie is Emma's baby.... Adopted (bought) Doggie from a gas station during our stop on our way home from Florida trip 3-4 years ago....

Doggie is Emma's heart and soul... She would literally cry her lungs out if she couldn't find doggie to go to sleep with on any single night....

Note 2: Again... I wish I grew up with some kind of teddy bears and puppy dogs....

Semalam, aku dapat amaran secara bertulis dari bos aku....

Sebab...???

Temujanji dengan pelanggan aku tak cukup "korem" untuk seminggu.... Sepatut-nya, dalam seminggu aku kena ada temujanji dengan pelanggan minima 10... tapi 3 minggu berturut-turut, jumlah temujanji aku hanya mencapai 7-8....

Terus bos aku kasi surat amaran.... Apa lagi..??? Mood terus hilang...!!!! Stress level naik ke tahap maximum.

Nasib baik ini adalah surat amaran yang pertama... Tiga kali kena... terus "Bye-bye" dan "Good luck"....

Tapi, aku adalah sakit hati sikit.... Kalau ya pun, bos aku ni sepatutnya bagi-lah "hint-hint" sikit.... Orang kata, bagi lah chance... kasi lepas this time...

Cath, kau kena usaha sikit jumlah temujanji kau... Ada apa-apa yang boleh saya tolong...?? Okay... begini lah... Saya bagi kau tempoh masa sebulan untuk memperbaiki ataupun bagi saya result...

Ini tidak... *dop dop* terus call Jabatan Sumber Kemanusian - bagi surat amaran...

Yang tak best tu... Aku dah ada rekod dalam fail... Sepanjang career aku, aku tak pernah terima surat amaran dari kerja.... Bukan aku nak cakap besar... tapi ini adalah kali pertama hal-hal macam ini berlaku.... Aku tertekan.... betul-betul tertekan pasal kerja lately. Apa aku boleh buat, kan...??? Nasi sudah jadi bubur...

Mulai hari ini, aku akan berusaha dengan sedaya-upayanya untuk mencapai minama temujanji pelanggan untuk seminggu... Ada sesiapa nak bertemujanji dengan aku, sila angkat tangan...??? **ceh, tengah hot hot ini, masih boleh buat lawak**

My Typical Sunday

Every Sunday, without fails... is my grocery shopping day.

I usually do my grocery shopping at Kroger's.... for the fact that I like the grocery store a lot.... vegetables are fresh.... and plenty.... a variety selections of deli, cheeses or cut meats available on the spot.... Also, at Krogers I basically know where everything is... in which aisle... and on which shelves.... I shop there so often... it's almost like my house!

I remember arguing with one of the employee there....

Me: No no no... it was THERE last week... and now it's ALL GONE...!!! *both hands on my hips*

Him: Ma'am, we moved things around... it was probably THERE last week and sold out during the week... and we re-stocked it HERE... in this aisle.

Tengok cermin pagi tadi... Aaaaaik, apasal jerawat batu sudah tumbuh kat dahi dan tepi hidung... ini mesti tak cukup tidur.... ataupun mau period kot!

Oooooi Amoi.... mari sini. Saya nak cerita sikit.

Sebenarnya mood saya kurang baik hari ini.... Macam-macam hal jadi kat pool.... tengah hot sama minah orangputih yang tak ada kerja lain.... asyik pot pet pot pet... tak henti-henti.

Apa yang kamu pot pet, gelak-gelak, perli itu ini dengan member kamu petang tadi....?? Saya tahu bikini saya cantik... kalerful... tarik perhatian... ada seksi sikit. Yang kamu pot pet, jeling-jeling apa hal...??? Adakah bikini saya buat mata kamu sakit...??? Kalau sakit mata, sila jangan pandang ke arah saya. Cuba pandang kat pokok-pokok tepi jalan ke... anak-anak yang tengah main kat buaian ke... kasik cuci mata sikit... Suka hati saya lah, kalau saya nak pakai bikini yang kalerful ke.... seksi sikit ke.... ataupun saya nak terlanjang terus *nak mati**.... itu saya punya hal. Saya hairan betul. Saya bukannya susah nak bawa dibincang... Apa-apa hal, cakap aje depan saya... boleh bawa dibincang... Saya memang hot sangat bila ada orang gossip itu ini belakang saya... Saya ber"bikini" kat pool bukan-nya nak tackle sesiapa... nak tunjuk body saya cun-melecun (ceh... ayat ciptaan CatCat)... cuma saya nak jemur... rilek-rilek kat pool hilang-kan penat.... kasik kulit hitam sikit... golden brown... baru nampak sihat. Kamu pun "berbikini" seksi jugak... Ada saya sakit mata memandang..??? Bisik-bisik dengan member saya pasal kamu punya bikini..??? Sorry, I have no time. None of my business...!!!

Dah sudah.... tak guna saya hot sampai nak meletup ni... saya nak tidur dah... sakit kepala tak hilang lagi... siapa mau kasik picit-picit saya punya kepala, sila angkat tangan...!! Tarak upah..!!!

Itu hari, adalah seorang customer gua... yang dah lama gua tak jumpa.... tiba-tiba dia muncul kat tempat kerja gua.

Zaaaaap, terus orang tua ni masuk ke opis gua... tanpa diundang... tanpa dijemput... Ini apa hal..???

Hey, ingat opis gua ni kedai kopi ke...?? Suka-suka hati kau nak masuk tanpa nak bagi salam... at least tanya lah dulu.... okay ke tidak, nak chit-chat jap... nak tanya khabar... dah makan ke belum...???

Gua pun kasi hormat lah sikit kat orang tua ni... macam mak gua selalu pesan... CatCat, hormat orang tua-tua adalah adat resam budaya Malaysia.... *Cewah*

Orang-Tua-Tak-Sedar-Diri ni terus pot-pet pot-pet... tak henti-henti... segala macam dia pot-pet... holiday kat mana... business busy sangat... rumah nak buat extension... bla bla bla... Bukan gua peduli sangat hal kau... dan gua bukan orang yang suka jaga tepi kain orang pun... Kau nak pergi cuti di London ke, Paris ke... duit ribu riban ke... itu kau punya hal... I'm not interested!

Yang paling gua hangin... ada ke patut dia cium tangan gua...?? Gatal punya orang tua.

Time for a BLOG CONTEST....

It's been a while since I last threw out a contest in my blog.... to all my dear readers who continuously giving me support.... by visiting my blogging.... by taking your precious time to put a few words in the comment box.... and most importantly.... for just being yourself and a best friend of mine.

Anyway, back to the contest.... you know I'm a freak when I talk about weight.... And my weight has been going up and down like a roller coaster for the past few years....

I had once set myself a goal to reach an ideal weight at certain period of time.... swear I would work very hard to achieve my goal.... and a laundry list long of things to do and food not to eat.... but the next day, I would be nom nom noming all the food that was set on the table.

A little history of my weight yo-yo here....

My heaviest was 145 lbs.... that was after I had my first-born, Annabel... (gosh, 9 years ago).... Then I lost some in a year or so..... and carried the weight at around 130s for a while.... couldn't care a single thing in my life.

My second child, Emma was born in 2005 and right after that, my weight went up to 140s again and it freaking stayed there.... till I decided to finally do something to it in 2008.

I did pretty well and it has been 3 years now.... and I have been keeping my eyes on my weight every single day.

So, there you go.... you have a little "Cat Cat's Weight History Soap Opera"....

Now, here is the fun part....

This is Mr. Bill's house... our next door neighbor.

Mr Bill and his wife are retired and live next to us.... they are probably in their early 70's.... and we have been neighbors since we moved into our house 10 years ago.

Mr Bill favourite passtime is to keep his yard nice and clean.... he would literally spent hours and hours every weekend doing yard works... look at the 3 bushes in the picture... nicely trimmed and shaped. Loving it....!!

This is our house.... Our yard is not as nice as Mr. Bill's but presentable.... Grass are being cut every 2-3 weeks.... What I would like to have in our yard are more spring flowers.... But I definitely do not have time to do gardening... like our Mr. Bill.... LOL...!!!

This is Emma's room.... Nice and clean... We spent a couple hours this morning cleaning up the girls' room.... Went out to Bath and Beyond yesterday to do some bedsheets shopping.... $24.99 for Emma's sheets set.

This is Annabel's room.... Her room is the smallest room in the house... It was like a hurricane gone through her room before we had it cleaned... 3 bagfull of trashes... Her bedsheets set was $19.99 - a fitted, a flat and 2 pillow cases.... What a deal...!!!!

This is the playroom.... For the tenth million time of cleaning... this room is still in a mess. I have giving up hope.... and I rest my case.... I'm not cleaning this room anymore... End of story...!!!

This is Annabel's creation.... Charms Bracelet.... made from Sculpey clay.... She watches youtube alot.... and mostly craft stuff... how to make this and that... I have to say... for a 9-years old girl.... she's pretty smart.... Wish I was that smart when I was her age.... LOL..!!!

It was a beautiful morning and I was driving down the road to work....

My cell rang... a friend of mine called to say hi and good morning... while I was at the McDonald's drive-thru.... getting my morning coffee.

The digital clock in my car said 8:02 am.... "Sheeze... I'm late to work...!!!"

The line was long as if every single car ahead me was ordering the whole restaurant menu... **pissy mood on**

After 5 minutes (and this was 8:07 am), I finally got my coffee.... **pissy mood off**.... and heading to work.

At the stop light, I spotted something really funny....

Apparently, I was running a little behind this morning.... grabbed my high heels out of the closet in the dark.... put it on and went out the door.

I could have just left it alone and be goofy today.... afterall, they both look very similar... but I have meeting to go...

So...., I drove all the way back to the house.... (clock says 8:10 am now).... changed my high heels to its correct partner.... (the girls at home were laughing at me.... **pissy mood on again**).

And by the time I reached my office.... It was 8:17 am.

One of the very few days in my life that I was late to work.

Lesson Learned #546.

a) Do not buy similar pair of high heels/shoes/sneakers....

b) Turn on the freaggin lights if it's too dark in the hallway. The lights are there for a reason.

c) Always wake up to the alarm clock.... I took a 30 minutes snooze this morning... :D

Anyway, it was a busy morning start for me.... hopefully my day will goes by fast.

Indeed.... I usually would take it easy with all the comments posted on my blog by all my readers.... but lately, I think I took it a little too personal.

You see... this is my blog and I spent alot of my time here.... thinking what to write.... not for the sake of just blogging.... but for my children to read.... when they grow up....

And when the time has finally come where I'm in a better place (aka KONG or DIE or however you want to call it).... this blog will be part of the sweet memories that I left behind for my family.

I honestly don't consider myself greedy... I do admit, like I said in the post that I'm kiasu.... and I was taking the opportunity to grab as many cleansers as I could....

What is wrong with it when opportunity came and I took advantage of it...???

And hey.... they weren't free....

1. I drove a total of 30 some miles to all three departmental stores.... and there were gas involved;

2. My precious time (1 hour or so) were spent on that day;

3. In exchange, I had to turn in 3 used jar and I DID paid for them.... So instead of having all 3 unused cleansers laying around in my bathroom closet... (read 4)

4. Why not make an effort to support the Earth Day by recycling my unwanted cleansers...???

And the list can go on.... and on... and on.... but I think it is absolutely UNNECESSARY....

I have to admit... I'm kiasu...

The meaning of kiasu - according to Wiki....

Kiasu (traditional Chinese: 驚輸; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: kiaⁿ-su) is a Hokkien (a Chinese spoken variant) word that literally means 'fear of losing' (Mandarin Chinese: 怕输).

Examples of kiasu behaviour includes accumulating too much food on one's plate during a buffet lunch in case there is no more later, or joining a queue many days in advance just to ensure that one successfully gets hold of the limited free tickets to events, promotions and shows.

This word is so widely used by Singaporeans and Malaysians that it is incorporated into their English vocabulary (in the form of Singlish and Manglish). Last Friday, April 22nd, was Earth Day.

And on this special recycled day (I called it).... Originis was giving away free full-size cleanser.... retail at US$20.00....

Yes, I'm that KIASU... LoL!!

to my bank account.... in Malaysia...!!!

Although I have moved out of my beloved country for over 10 years now, I still keep my checking account in Malaysia.... You know.... for whatever transactions that needs to be done.... on monthly basis.

For instance, apartment rental deposits from my tenant.... yearly payment for "cukai pintu".... and etc.

(Special thank-you to Doris, who has been helping me all these years with my apartment..... and not forgetting my sister, Carol who helped me pay all the "cukai pintu"... )

I do check the balance of my checking account online periodically.... just to make sure I have enough $$$$ in the account to pay something.... or for whatever reason..... who knows...!!!

So, the other day - as usual.... I logged onto my account and was SURPRISED....

to find a mysterious deposits to my bank account.....

A lump sum of.....

RM20.00.....!!!! About US$5.50....

made on 03/26/2011....

It was a cash deposit.... For some apparent reason.... a good samaritan has deposited RM20.00 to my account....

There is no way for me to know who, in the world, this good soul was... and for whatever reason that I believe I will never find out.... But why RM20.00....??? Not RM2,000...??? or RM20,000...???? RM200,000..... even better!

But anywho....

Annabel, my eldest 9-years old.... watches YouTube all the time.... She would, at times, spent hours... literally hours on YouTube watching some videos....

What was she watching...?? I have had no clue.... Not that I'm an unresponsible parent for not monitoring her activities on the internet.... but I know my daughter very well...

She is a very curious child... even when she was a baby.... There must be a reason why she was watching YouTube... on her free time.

Mommy, can you take me to Michael's....???

Saturday, went to Coach store at the mall with my youngest, Emma....

And bought myself this gorgeous sunglasses....

I'm sick and tired of ALL my old, cheap sunglasses...

Spring is here and Summer will come soon.... so I want a new pair of expensive and nice sunglasses....

Initially I wanted to get the latest model - Larissa @ $178... like the picture below.....

But when I tried it on at the store.... I look like lalat (flies)... LoL..!!!

The sunglasses is way too big for my face....

I don't really mind big frame sunglasses but Larissa has a very thick frame that makes me looks like a flesh fly....

Then I tried on this model named Kit.... I sorta like it alot.....

It also comes in black color... I like the Tortoise (brown)....

At $158.... It's now my most expensive pair of sunglasses....

My question is.... "Do I still look like lalat...????"

Aaaah, who cares..??? As long as I'm happy and I like it.... LoL...!!!!

We are INDEED... Me, my brother and my brother-in-law.

I guess pretty much everyone in Asia are crazy for IPAD2....

I can definitely vouch that people in United States are as crazy as well....

Why....???

BestBuy has stopped taking pre-order. The demand was extremely OVERWHELMING.... and they completely stopped the pre-ordering process.... They couldn't even tell when is the delivery date....

A phone call to Apple store in town told me the same thing... "I'm sorry Ma'am, we don't know when is the delivery date.... it could be 3-4 weeks or longer.... And I don't know when is the next shipment coming in..."

And today, my brother-in-law package arrived from the order he placed online.... on the day IPAD2 was launched a week ago.... He's darn lucky.

2 IPAD2 are already on their way to Hong Kong.... YAY..!!!

Along with the IPAD2, 7 covers are also in the box....

Which color do you like..??? I like green... just because today is St. Patty's Day... LoL..!!!

ADV Adapters for $29.99 a piece....

That's the Sony Camcorder or Camera... in the box as well to Hong Kong.

Oh.... my sister is crazy too.....

All arrived at the same time and out to Hong Kong in the same box today....

So, the IPAD2 is officially sold in the local retailer stores today at 5:00 pm....

A quick search online and found out that there are available for purchase at local BestBuy, Target, Walmart, AT&T and Verizon stores.

According to BestBuy's employee (I actually picked up the phone and called them earlier today).... tickets will be given out at 4:30 pm.... and the IPAD2 will be available on the floor at 5:00 pm.

At 4:30 pm sharp.... I was at BestBuy.... standing in line... for my luck to get a ticket... perhaps TWO...!!!

There were quite a line in front of me.... and I think I was probably the 50th person in line....

The Sales Associate explaining to customers about the ticketing system....

And close to almost 5:00 pm, I got my ticket....

But what left wasn't the one that I wanted.... 16GB with WIFI - BLACK.

I wanted a 64GB with WIFI - WHITE.

I was P.I.S.S.E.D.....

So, I left BestBuy.... and headed to Walmart!

Walmart had 4 units at the store that I went to.... that's all they received on the shipment from Apple.... and they were all SOLD OUT....

EXCEPT ONE....!!!!

They have one last piece left... being locked under the counter.

I was the lucky ones who bought the last piece.... :D

Very chic... lightweight... 64GB with WIFI - WHITE!

Retail at $699... plus 5% tax... Total = $733.95

The only problem is.... this beauty doesn't belongs to me... I'm buying it on behalf of my brother who lives and works in Hong Kong.

McD's vs Starbucks

I have been eating very healthy lately.... 3 meals a day.... with breakfast.

You see.... I'm not a breakfast person.... I usually will do with a cuppa coffee... home-brewed.... and that's about it.... for my breakfast. Period.

But as I said earlier.... I have been having breakfast almost everyday now.... for the past couple of weeks.

Being a full-time working mom, I do not have much time to prepare breakfast at home.... **an excuse for being lazy.... haha**

So I resorted to a quick one.... grab and go.... from outside.

Now, I was never a big oatmeal fan.... Recently, McDonald's has came up with their New Fruit and Maple Oatmeal....

Looks really yummy.... with cut apples, dried raisins and canberries.

I have to say.... I really like this oatmeal alot.... I love the crunchyness (sp??) of the apples.... the sweetness of the dried fruits. Loving it..!!!!

And yesterday.... I feel like trying something similar.... Starbucks Perfect Oatmeal....

OMG.... what a BIG MISTAKE...!!!

This so-called Perfect Oatmeal - Perfectless Oatmeal - I mean, was awful...

The oatmeal was cooked too dry.... and tasteless.... not a single bit of sweetness... even after I had added the nuts and dried fruits into the cup.... Me not like it...!!!

So, there you go.... you have it from me if you are undecided which oatmeal you would liked better....

Unless, you're not an oatmeal fan.... I'm just saying......

And no... I do not get paid from McDonald's for writing this post.
