Five Guys Burgers - Best Burger in Town

Last night, we went out to dinner at Five Guys Burgers and they have the best burger in town.

Their steak fries are awesome and we ordered a large serving to be shared among 4 of us. What really impressed me was the juicy burger that they served with your choice of toppings.

Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, a fast casual restaurant chain that originated from Washington DC.

It was founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia by Janie and Jerry Murrell and their five sons, the "Five Guys." In 2002, there were only five locations in Northern Virginia run by the family. Today, there are 205 locations along the US East Coast from Florida to Connecticut - all are franchise stores.

Most locations offer free in-the-shell peanuts for patrons to eat while they wait for their food.

Menu is restricted to only a few items, burgers being the main item. The other main item is their french fries, broadwalk-style fried in peanut oil.

Burger, anyone..????

Cupcakes and Dinner last night

Our new center in Chester has a Grand Opening today and ribbon cutting was held at 11:00 am.

I had baked some cupcakes last night for this special day and it turned out very well.

My signature Chocolate Cupcakes with Vanilla Icing.

Of course the girls helped me with the baking.

We had Soy Sauce Chicken with fried rice for dinner last night. It's my own creation of Soy Sauce Chicken, marinated in soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, white pepper, salt and sugar overnight and pan-fried on hot pan with little cooking oil till brown. It turned out pretty good.

I'm a Cowgirl

I'm a cowgirl,
As you can see,
I live in Texas,
THE BEST PLACE TO BE!
You will find cactus and longhorns,
And fields of blue,
Lots of pecan trees,
And mockingbirds, too.

Miss Emma was playing with the hand towel after her bath and had it over her head. I thought she look exactly like those cute little muslim girl in Malaysia with the head scarf.

Here are more pictures of playful little Miss Emma.

These were taken when she was in the kitchen with me. Put her on the counter, gave her a banana and I'm good to go.

My New Domain Name

After reading Puteri's blog about buying a domain name, I have been debating myself if I should do it.

You see, when it comes to computer, be it hardware or software, I'm not so "bright" and sometime become a major challenge for me to figure out how, what, where and why.

This morning, I told myself "What the heck!" and I bought my first domain name from godaddy.com. I haven't had much time to have my new domain name setup but after spending 35 minutes on the phone with my guru, Puteri this evening, I'm good to go.

See, my domain name has changed to http://www.cathlooi.com/ and blogspot still remains as my host. You may change the URL to my new domain name but if you didn't and type in my blogspot address, it will still re-direct you to my new domain.

So, if you have a couple of minutes, please change my domain to:-

http://www.cathlooi.com/

(I tried to get catcat.com but it was not available. Someone has purchased it but I think I like cathlooi.com better. Afterall, that's my name and the blog belongs to me.)

Anyway, thanks to Puteri for all her help. I give all the credits to her as this wonderful lady knows alot of computer related stuff. What really impressed me is she has no computer knowledge background but yet know a zillion things about technology and she's indeed a Blogger Queen. I salute you, Puteri.

Which look do you like..???

This is probably Robert's most favourite picture of him with Annabel. It was taken in summer of 2002 and Annabel was just a little over 6 months old.

I know her hair looked kinda funny but there was nothing much we could have done except brushing it everyday.

At times, I would try to change her hairstyle by brushing it all down covering part of her forehead.

I have also tried middle parting for a different look.

Or maybe a big hat just to cover up her puffy hair.

Perhaps a flowery hair band to distract the view of her bad hair day.

Nothing seems help.... Lets try a sunglasses.

But the best was to brush her hair side parting right after her bath.

But the next day, she woke up with another bad hair day. HIYA!

"Please don't look at my hair. See, I'm eating rice. Mommy fed me rice for dinner. Ok ok. I know but someday I will grow up and have a long, thick and beautiful hair."

My Poinsettias

One of the store that I went yesterday was Home Depot. I just couldn't resist myself from buying these beautiful Poinsettias.

There is no Christmas without Poinsettias in the house, so with the price of $1.49 a pot, I bought 4 of them. The usual price at local grocery store is $4.99 a pot. What a big difference! Now, that's what I called Black Friday shopping. Wish I had bought more. Oh well!

Poinsettia Facts

Poinsettias are native to Mexico.

Chile and Peru called the poinsettia the "Crown of the Andes."

Some people may have skin irritation from the milky sap

In nature, poinsettias are perennial flowering shrubs that can grow to ten feet tall.

Poinsettias are priced according to the number of blooms. The more blooms, the more expensive the plant.

Poinsettias are not poisonous.

A study at Ohio State University showed that a 50 pound child who ate 500 bracts might have a slight tummy ache.

Poinsettias represent over 85 percent of the potted plant sales during the holiday season.

Poinsettias are commercially grown in all 50 states.

California is the top poinsettia producing state.

December 12 is National Poinsettia Day.

There are over 100 varieties of poinsettias available.

$220 million worth of poinsettias are sold during the holiday season.

74% of Americans still prefer red poinsettias; 8% prefer white and 6% pink.

80% of poinsettias are purchased by women.

80% of people who purchase poinsettias are 40 or older.

Poinsettias are the best selling flowering potted plant in the United States. In 2004 over 61 million plants were sold.

Poinsettias are the most popular Christmas plant even though most are sold in a 6 week period.

Shopping Spree

You see, the Americans are crazy about shopping. I'm not an American, never was and never will be, but I absolutely love going shopping on Black Friday. You can find some pretty good deals if you are not lazy and won't mind waiting in line.

This morning, I woke up at 4:30 am and was out the door quarter till 5, armed with my pocket book and a cup of home-brewed coffee. The line was crazy at Walmart; didn't get what I wanted but managed to grab a few thing that was in my list.

Since there weren't many great deals that I care much about at Walmart, I headed out to my next destination; Target, which is about a mile down the road from Walmart.

Oh by the way, if you don't know what Black Friday is, go google it.

Most important, I bought what I think Robert would like for Christmas, at least at a very good price. Sorry I can't post any pictures of my shopping spree here since Robert is reading my blog everyday. Pictures to come on Christmas day...

Thanksgiving Dinner 2007

At 3:30 pm sharp, we had our Thanksgiving dinner at home. Turkey was done right, peas and corns were perfectly cooked, mashed potatoes were lightly salted but sad to say, my green beans cassarole was a little undercooked. I prefer a little dry but it was still yummy.

Overall, we had a nice Thanksgiving dinner although Emma didn't eat her turkey at all. Annabel, on the other hand, nibbled on the drumstick and lost interest half way thru the dinner.

Me? I had a turkey drumstick, a big lump of mashed potatoes, some green beans cassarole and finished with another round of turkey wing and more mashed potatoes.

Garden salad for lunch.

Now sit back and enjoy our 2007 Thanksgiving dinner pictures!

Lightly buttered, salted and peppered - ready to go in the oven.

3 1/2 hours later, our turkey was perfectly cooked and ready to be carved by The King of the House.
